  • Health Insurance for OPT

    Hi DESIOPT’s,

Currently I’m on OPT and while applying I did not selected my student Health Insurance Plan extension. The plan which was active ended up recently and was noticed that it has ended and you can’t enroll through the school again as you did not choose the extension. If I want I have to select it as an individual but not through the school, which cost little more. Now I’m in confusion whether to choose the same plan with little extra money ($175 I guess) with the same Insurance provider (or) do I have to go with other Insurance companies, if so I have few questions as follows

    1. How do I compare the plans?
    2. Which are some of the good plans for OPT students?
    3. Which are some of the good companies who provide OPT students Insurance with reasonable prices?
    4. Does anyone know any good plans with any good companies?
    5. What would be an average price for Insurance for OPT student, if not going through school?

    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Rick.

      1) Visit each and every Insurance website and compare the plans.
      2) There isn't anything like plans for OPT Students as per my knowledge.
      3) , 4) , 5) I have taken individual plans from Anthem Bluecross before and right now with Blue shield.

Rates will vary depending upon your location.

They have decent plans for around 50$ a month. Only problem is that you have to pay all at once for 6 months. Good coverage tho
