Switch to different major for Job

Hello,

My major is Finance but US job market is actively looking for professionals who are more into IT sector rather then business and finance sector. I am on F1 but jobs in Finance are very limited whereas it is very easy to find jobs in IT sector.

I would like to know for a job purpose, can i choose IT sector to get job more quickly? Because so many consultant companies are hiring different professionals for IT sector. If I do that, will it affect my F1 status or no?

You are supposed to get a job related to your field of study. It doesn’t matter what “sector” the company is in, but the job itself should be related to Finance.
