My passport expired this April and I am applying to renew it. However the renew process is taking time. About 2 months and I am applying for my OPT as well since my DSO applied for my new I-20 which will be here in the next week.I know they ask for a photocopy of your passport too when applying for OPT. Can I send the photocopy of my current passport(which expired this April) And send the new one later once it comes ? Otherwise I will loose a lot of time as my employer is waiting for me to start August end. I garduate by August end, so I am applying early. Will my application be denied ? Accepted ? Will I have to submit again ? Please help.

all documents need to be current when applying for immigration benefits.Comment

Apply for passport in premium process. Would take U 1-2 weeks to get the passport. Keep all the Opt documents ready and the day U receive the passport take copies and appy for opt.Comment

USCIS won't give directly denial and first they will ask Request for evidence ( all required documents)Comment

You can send proof that you have applied for your passport and that the process is taking a long time. Depending on the school / luck, they could approve it. Otherwise, you could get the (request for evidence) RFE.Comment

use tatkal to get u r passport .. and i dont think u would get u r opt by aug .. as of now it is taking around 80-120 days to get opt ..Comment
