  • Late - OPT

    Hi everyone,

I filed for my opt more than 90 days ago and still have not heard from anyone. I keep calling and emailing, but I keep running into 'blocks' that do not let me talk to a human. Case was received on April 10th 2015 so it should have been here by June 10th at the latest. We are 12 days later now and there is still nothing. I am from Belgium, so it's not that there is an issue with my country I think. Also, if it was not approved I should have been notified about that too. The international advisor at my school in Georgia keeps checking the system and he sees my case as pending.

The main issue is that I had a job lined up and they were willing to wait till I got my OPT. Because I have not gotten it and they are waiting and short of 1 person in their company, they told me I need to have some news or a concrete update by 9:00 am tomorrow 6/23/15 or I will not be getting the job. I can not blame the company for this, because I interviewed with them in the beginning of May. They have been waiting for me for over a month now.

I would love this job and it is the only company I have found in the NW Georgia-Tennessee area that is willing to work with me and my visa.

Please anyone, do you know what I can do? How I can talk to a human being and give the company some more information?

    Thank you!!

Sometime it takes like 100 to 110 days. Or when you call them wait patiently if you are put on hold

Give a call , explain your case to executive and then ask them to transfer your call to an officer ..note that they do it but might take long time to connect, stay on line till u get connected .. Talk to the officer and ask all of your questions..they are right ppl to connect with.. Hope you can hear something very soon and keep up the job..

Call uscis , tell them to connect to the level 2 person as you called before and the call got disconnected while you were on call with the level 2 person

If you are calling the correct number and following the correct prompts, you should be reaching a human being at USCIS Customer Service. You will need to ask for a Service Request. The number you should be calling is: 1 (800) 375-5283.
