• Queries related to EAD/OPT : Please help

Hello ALL!

This forum and discussions are very helpful! Expecting valuable inputs from you all. I explained my situation here. Please provide your suggestions.

I am Manasa , I graduated in may 2015 (F1 Visa) and I have applied for EAD on March 16, My application reached USCIS on March 18th and also received the receipt. It is 84th day(06/12/2015) since My application reached USCIS (Texas Service center) and I see no update on the website about my case. The case status says" Case was received" and the last updated date is March 24th. I have a job offer and the start date is June 22nd. I believe June 18th will be the 90th day(The 90 day Processing time end).
on June 10th I called the NCSC and explained the situation. The representative suggested to submit an update request/inquiry and I did it. I still see no change in the status. I am worried about the uncertainty in the arrival of my EAD card on June 18th.
1) I would like to know all possible steps that I need to take if my EAD does not arrive by 18th, which I definitely hope does not happen, but I want to be aware.
2) I read several comments of people about contacting congressmen and ombudsmen, People who have done that, Please explain what scenario was yours and how exactly to approach these authorities.
3) At what stage should I request expedition in the process and how do things change after that? What additional documentation will I be asked for?

Thanks a lot!!

You can actually expedite the process in case you feel that it may not be processed soon. I expedited mine somewhere near the 65th day mark and got it in a week. You'll however need to get a letter from your company stating that there'll be financila loss if you don't join on time and the offer will be invalid if you don't join by so and so date. I'm not sure if you need both conditions or just one of them, my case had both. Call USCIS and ask about expedition. I'm sure something will workout.

You will get it within or by 90 days , but you cannot work without the OPT in hand . Thats not legal . I got mine on the 89th day . If it is a STEM OPT only then can you work 180 days with receipt
