Regaining F1 status

My OPT got denied.My Sevis was Completed by that time.So i have left with only option to leave usa and reenter with new i20.
I have valid F1 till 2018.
1. How much safe it is to crossing border at mexico with new i20.
2. i20 from any university is ok or from good universities only?
3. what type of questions they will ask at port of entry.

Can anyone answer my questions. Thanks in Advance.
