F2 Visa

Hi,

I am currently on F1 visa on OPT and i am working a full time job. I am going to get married in July 2015. My US visa expires in August 2015. So, after marriage if my wife applies as a dependant and my F1 visa is expired, would that be a problem even though i have a valid i-20 and EAD till next year?

It shouldn’t matter that your visa will expire. As long as you have a valid I-20, the OPT is valid until next year, and your wife is able to show her ties to her home country, etc., she should be able to get the F-2 visa.

Visa is only for travel! u shouldn't have any problems

I think if you change from F1 to F2 your EAD will no longer be valid. So it will be a good idea to change your status after your EAD expires.
