Stem Extesion Problem

Hello All,

Thank you all for helping me previously. I have a new problem for my friend. He is doing a job at XXX company and his OPT will be expired in soon. He thought of graduating but he couldnot yet graduate this semester. What would be his next step for OPT extension?

If your friend has not graduated, he may not be eligible for the STEM extension. Check out the ICE Policy Manual for OPT. It talks about completing requirements for graduation while on OPT, but there is no mention of STEM OPT. Your friend may have to remain in F-1 status, do what he needs to do to graduate and remain in F-1 status, and then see if he can apply for the STEM extension after graduating. Your friend should speak with the DSO and an attorney to see if that is possible.
