OPT - New I-20 - Studnet Account on Hold in College

Hello,

I'm a Master's student graduating in May, I have submitted documents for new I-20 to apply for OPT. I couldn't pay my tuition fee completely, my student account is on Hold. Some of my seniors mentioned that universities wont sign I-20 to apply for OPT untill complete Tuition fees is paid. Is it true? My student loan is not processed for last semester and I have been paying in Installments, I won't be able to pay it off till August. SO what's the best way to move forward??
Please give me any suggestions that might help me through this.

It happened to me but my DSO did not make any trouble. It depends on school or DSO. So it is better to try and explain it to them.

My university don't have that policy , check with your international office.

Before graduation date u need to pay your fees ,but u can apply for opt if u have holds.it depends on universities better to explain to your international office.

It's not true. They keep on shoot mails to you for certain period of time(8 months since you graduated) before they give to collection agent. So, you can pay with in 8 months. Surely, they will issue new I20 irrespective of your hold regarding tuition fee.

Thank you all for the suggestions, I explained them the situation. They asked me to pay certain amount of fee and they will pass the new I-20 for OPT and I can pay the fee till August and then they might send it for collection agent if I cant pay it.
