OPT Stem Ext processing hold since 180 days

Hi,I had applied for Opt stem Ext on Sep 30th 2014. Its been almost 180 days since USCIS received my application. When I applied for expedition on 5th Jan, I got an email that my case is on processing hold due to pending security checks. Its been more than a month since that email, but my case still remains pending. After numerous service requests and emails, today even I got the same reply regarding pending security checks. I am really worried on when this ordeal will end.

1) Does anyone have any idea how much time these security checks take?
2) Is it normal for OPT stem cases to take this long?
3) Anything that I can do? Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Dont worry about it .even i was in same situation regarding security check .keep on calling them and better ask them to transfer the call to next level officer ,they will tell u what the actual problem is about.
