Travelling to USA from India on F1

Hi all,

I am presently in India due to family emergency . I am currently in F1 visa and will complete my program by March 19th 2015 and will receive OPT EAD card on May 19th 2015 . Meanwhile I am attending classes online via SKYPE to cover the material and complete the courses. I am planning to return to USA by last week of April or First week of May. Will I able to return to USA during this time period ? What are the required documents ? I currently have i20 which includes my CPT and OPT application dates. What is the best option for me in this situation. Please advice

U should wait for your opt to get approved and have someone mail you your ead card.. You will need it at port of entry

Its clearly stated stated on EAD card that It is not used for Reentry to USA #correct me If i am wrong . Thank you !

1. IF you are going to write your final exam after coming to USA , that should allow you to reenter on F1.

2. IF you complete your program before you reenter, you will need OPT card and a job offer letter stating your starting date after you reenter.

if you want to enter the US after ur course end date, then u would need EAD card, opt i-20 and job offer (paid or unpaid does not matter for post opt). If you will take your final exams after returning to the US, u will be considered as a regular student and shouldn't have any issues.
