Opt stem ext card delay

Hey all,

I have a question regarding the OPT STEM EXT . My first OPT Card is expiring on Feb 18 2015 and I applied for STEM EXT in Jan 1st week, so my case status is " received your application on Jan". My question is can I continue working with the old EAD number or do I have to stop working until I get a new EAD card for which I have to wait for atleast another month. Please suggest if there is any way to continue working.

Please suggest the available options.

You are authorized to continue working while an OPT STEM extension is pending for up to 180 days (http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/...nce_042010.pdf, page 28).
