  • delay of OPT card

    Hi all,

I applied for my opt in november but i did not get mine yet and I don't see any status change when i check it in USICS website, but some of my friends who applied in December got their card approved. and I graduated in december, will it be a problem if i don't get it in 3 months, just in case if there is any mistake in the application will they ask us to re-apply or consider the same application asking us to make changes and will they again take 3 months to approve the card, it that case by the time i receive my opt card it will be like 5 months i completed my masters will that be a problem for my status? i am really worried about this someone please help me...

    Thanks in advance.

As long as your application is pending, you are in status. If it has been more than 75 days since you applied, you can put in a Service Request. If there is a mistake with the application, they usually send a Request for Evidence first.

Check with USCIS by calling them up to see if your OPT card application is held up because of biometrics. In that case you will have to make an appointment through INFOPASS and get your biometrics done at a local field office. This was the reason for delay in my case. Once the biometrics was done I got my card within 10 days.
