  • Second OPT

Hi,I am doing a 9 months certification course which doesn't come under STEM category in XYZ university and has a valid F-1 visa till 2019 I am eligible for an OPT period of 12 months which cant be extended.Basically i have only chance for my H1b filling.

I just want to know whether i will be eligible for another OPT if i get into masters after working on my 12months of current OPT in the same visa.

My second question is my current opt is valid from April 25 2015 till April 25 2016,So will i able to work till oct 1 if my H1b get picked according to CAP-GAP or else what will be my status after OPT expires?will i able i stay till oct 1st or should i leave the country.

Yes, after completion of your OPT, you can return to school to obtain your Master’s degree. You will also be eligible for another period of OPT.
If your OPT expires on April 25, as long as an H-1B is filed before your OPT expires, you are eligible for CapGap and you can continue to work until October 1. As your H-1B is chosen in the lottery and then approved, you will keep your adviser notified about the H-1B status so that he or she can update your SEVIS record and I-20 appropriately (http://www.visapro.com/video/f1-opt-to-h1b.asp).

You will be automatically on cap-gap until Oct 1st if your H1 gets picked.

October, do you mean October 2016? By now (January 31 2015), have you already for your OPT to start form April 2015? Is it possible? Isn't too early? (I'll also graduate on May 2015!)

You will be in CAP -GAP. You might also want to find out if you can work in H1 receipts till Oct 1. Also, your school can extend your I-20 so that you won't be OFS but you will not be able to work till Oct 1. Also please check with international advisor if their policy are different on I-20 extension.
