  • Interim EAD card for OPT pending more than 90 days.

I have my OPT pending more than 90 days(applied to vermont service center on 23rd oct). I heard from them that the process is pending due to extended security checks. There is an option to get interim EAD card for 120 days when the application is beyond the regular time frame. However, I am not sure if the interim EAD card is given at any field office or only the vermont service center. Has anyone tried this option before. Please let me know the procedure.

I have raised an infopass session for the field office near my location. Will this infopass session help ?

USCIS no longer issues interim EAD cards. When they used to issue them, it was issued by the local field office.

I have my OPT pending for 90 days now. My question is: I graduated on Dec 21st and that was the last day of my I-20. It says that I have only 59 days to stay in the U.S. after the last day of my I-20, which will be Feb 19. Therefore, if I don't get my OPT until Feb 19, do I have to leave the country before I go out of status? Or because my OPT request is in process I have more time? Thanks in advance!

Don't worry. You can stay in US until you get a decision on your application.

Hi Thank you so much for your response. It is driving me case! Do you know somebody that went through the same situation? Do you know of any place where I can find this information? Like an official website of the government? I just did not want to chance to stay beyond the 59 days and then have problems later. Thanks in advance

Can I please get in touch with you regarding steps to take when my OPT case has been pending for 105 days?

I applied for my 17 month OPT STEM Extension in November 2015 at Nebraska center and still haven't received it. Online it says my case has been received. Recently, there has been a spike in OPT and OPT Extensions taking longer than 90 days (close to 120 days) to process. USCIS no longer issues interim EAD cards.
You can stay in the US as long as your OPT is pending, however, if you are past 60 days from the end of your graduation AND your OPT gets rejected you will get no more grace period and will have to leave the US immediately.

I am also having trouble knowing why my case is taking longer than 90 days like it is suppose to
