OPT Volunteering for individual

Hi,
I am currently out of my 90 days grace priod of my unemployment wrorking as volunteer for my professor. I have contacted my universty they told me that my volunteer job can not be verified through them. My professor gave me an official letter stating that I was volunteerly working for him. I have a concern of opt extension rejection. Please share me your exprience and opinions.

working volunteer under a professor cannot be considered after getting opt.if he pays a salary atleast you can manage but try to join a desi consulting
