  • Applied for OPT and have a graduation problem.

    Hi,
I have applied for OPT few months ago and it is under processing. I got a situation in my college where I secured 4 C grades with a 3.0 GPA and they are not letting me graduate from this university. So con you tell me what are my options now.
1). Should I cancel my OPT first and join a new grad school.
2). What if the OPT is accepted, am I eligible to still join a new grad school.
3). Can you also suggest me any schools which can transfer most of my credits so I need nit do my masters all over again.

    Thank you.

        1. Your DSO must help you to withdraw your OPT immediately. If you are able to withdraw, why not just re-take the courses in current university? It may be easier than transferring.
        2. If the OPT is accepted, then you can work part-time and go to school to finish or retake the necessary course work. If you don’t work at least 20 hours a week, it will be counted towards your unemployment time.

the best thing is with draw your opt asap take some more courses to meet the gpa and after crossing the GPA apply again .This happened to many of my friend and even to me they gave me 2 F and 3 c continued by taking some more courses and now I am on stem extention my univ is in california .i think you are also from same univ where they always do this

I'd recommend to withdraw OPT application, take 3 courses in the same univ and program. Get a B or a better grade in all 3( or repeat the courses in which you got C. if they can be retaken for Grade). Transferring to a new school will take you atleast 2 more semesters to complete your Masters. Because most universities will not accept more than 4 transfer courses.
