Hello guys,
I will be starting my OPT work permit soon. I graduated from STEM degree and will be eligible for STEM extension after 12 months. I would like to know what are the pros and cons of being in OPT extension and h1b candidates. I heard that people go rushing to file h1b even though they have 29 months of OPT. I also heard that when a person is on h1b S/he has to pay taxes from the salary which is not the case with opt students. Also, once my h1b is approved from any employer, do I need to be with same employer and same field for all 3 years ??? or I can change employer anytime after getting my h1b approve. I am planning to work through consultancy for atleast 3-5 years and after gaining some experience will plan to find a direct job.
[B]So the bottom line is what would be better opt extension or file h1b in coming april 2015. Please provide me guidance and also let me know pros and cons of it. [/B]
