  • Post-OPT Expedition

USCIS received my case on 30th Oct and I have a OPT start date of 12th Jan. 2015. My case status has been 'Case Was Received' ever since; no change in status and I am just left with few days. My questions are:

    1) Since the USCIS website has changed, does 'Case Was Received' mean 'Initial Review'? Or will the case go to Initial Review after this?
    2) I had already included my offer letter in the OPT application packet when I applied for OPT. Will it make any difference if I apply for case expedition because I have already submitted my offer letter?
    3) Can I call and apply for expedition or do I need to route it through my DSO?
    4) What are the chances of me getting my EAD by the 11th Jan?

      1. Means the same thing.
      2. No.
      3. Most EAD cards have been taking almost full 75-90 days.

            1. It means initial review.
            2. Yes, you can get it expedited
            3. Call USCIS
            4. The processing time is usually 90 days and it varies from case to case.

It means initial review. My status directly went to card production after that. Yes you can expedite. Pick up the right reason from the list on USCIS website for expedition. I got mine in 75 days.

If You receive I-797, then it is in initial review!
