  • STEM OPT Processing, Employer change

    Hi,

I had applied for my STEM OPT recently, and is received by the USCIS on Nov 26th. I want to change my employer due to some issues with my current employer. Is it possible to change employer when your application for STEM EAD has already been received by USCIS. If possible then, do I need to take new I20 and update USCIS about employer change or they will receive the update from the DSO.

Yes, but the employer must be an E-Verify employer. Contact your DSO about the change.

            1. Yes, but it is better to change after you receive the card.
            2. You should update your university and get your SEVIS updated.

Hey yes you can technically(my dso suggested I send a new application with out processing fee and attach a letter explaining the change ) but it's better not to do that .. I did the same mistake of changing the employer while my case was pending followed my dso suggestion and got the application rejected .. It got way too complicated where I had to file an MTR and explain the situation .. So I would suggest not to do that ...

no need to do anything now just wait for the decision from USCIS , if you get RFE you can send new employer details !
