  • STEM Extension is in initial stage after 86 days

    Hi Desi OPT,
I thank you so much for helping students like me.

I applied for STEM extension and USCIS received my application about 86 days ago since then my case is in initial review. I spoke with customer service they asked me to wait until 180 days and I requested her to rise a request to speedup my process, for that she just asked me to wait until 180 days and then I should notify USCIS

    Now my question is:

Is there any way that I can ask USCIS to speed up my process? if so how?

The officer gave you wrong information. Once an EAD is pending for more than 75 days, you can put in a service request (http://www.uscis.gov/forms/tip-sheet...g-more-75-days). If the next officer gives you same information, you can tell them you are getting information from their website.
You can ask for an “expedite”, but if you don’t have a valid reason (extreme economic hardship or something like that), the expedite request will be denied and your application can even be more delayed.
