  • Error in filling I-765 form for STEM OPT Extension

    Hi,
I recently sent my application packet for OPT Extension under STEM category to USCIS.
However, after sending the packet, I realized that I had marked one of the questions incorrectly.

    Under "I am applying for:",
I marked "Permission to accept employment" whereas I should have marked "Renewal of my permission to accept employment."

I have marked all the other details correctly like providing my A-number from my current EAD card in point 10. I have also sent a copy of my current EAD card with the application.
I have also marked "Yes" for "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?" and filled the USCIS office, date and result as "Granted" in point 11.

Also, I have correctly filled the category code for STEM OPT extension as (c) (3) (C) in point 16.
I have also entered my Degree, employer's name and employer's e-verify number in point 17 of the I-765 form.

So the only mistake that I have made is marking it as "Permission to accept employment" instead of "Renewal of permission".

Can this create any problem with my application?
And how can I fix it?

    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

There is no way to fix it without withdrawing the application and filing it again. However, this may be a harmless error that may not affect you.

No need to worry , you can raise the service ticket to USCIS or in worst case scenario they will send an RFE to correct the form
