  • Degree Not complete OPT approve..taking university transfer STEM Extn is applicable?

I was doing MS in Information Science from X University and applied for OPT. I got the OPT approved but could not finish my degree. I am planning to take university transfer To University B.

    1. Will I be eligible for STEM Extn. once I finish my degree with University B?
    2. Can I apply for STEM Extn. & H1B at the same time?
    3. Any other consequences of the same?

If you transfer, your OPT will be no longer valid. You won't be allowed for STEM ext.
You won't get another OPT for same level degree.
It is also difficult to cancel approved petition from USCIS.
You would have do that when it was under processing.
Still you can try that with your DSO.
The best thing you can do is complete the degree in University A only.
You have still 1 year to do that.
You can apply for H1-B only if you are in OPT/Stem ext/CPT with atleast 3 recent pay checks.
If you transfer foget about OPT and Stem ext, only option you may have is CPT from Uni B.

If you transfer your SEVIS then your current OPT will be cancelled and you no longer will be eligible for OPT or stem opt anymore in masters level degree.

If you want to utilize OPT then stick to univ A and complete the masters.
