  • Applying for STEM EXtension?

Hi Guys, Due to my financial situations i was unable to pay my tuition fee for my last semester so, I dint get my masters degree though i have completed all my credits(They are asking me to pay fee to get my degree but my situations are not allowing me to pay that huge amount). But now i need to have my degree copy to apply for my stem extension. So, is there any so way we can apply for STEM Extension without having copy of our degree. Please guys help me.

As per my knowledge you should give a copy of your degree, if you apply for stem without degree copy you will get RFE.

I20 or student visa is issued under the condition tht students will cover the tuition/living expense thru self-financing or scholarship/asstsp. At this point you can either talk to your dso or approach any bank for student loan.

You can try for personal or student loan with less interest rate ! without degree certificate chances are high for getting an RFE ! or convince your DSO to provide a copy of degree !!

If you dont have much time left to apply for stem, I would suggest you to apply for stem now. You will get RFE but it will take sometime anywhere between 1-3 months. This way you can buy some time to either get some student loan or work some regular or odd jobs and arrange for the fees.

you will need to have your DSO recommend you to apply for STEM extension. you might have gotten away with first opt application but for 17 month extension, DSO will not forward your application unless u have cleared all the balances. DSO works with college.. so i hope you get a point here.. goodluck

USCIS needs a documents where it says that you finished this degree in such specific field. You can ask for a degree verification from your school, it may hep.. Degree verification comes from register office and directly says that you finished that degree. Since you have OPT, it might work. Contact with DSO would be the best option. Thanks
