Tax filling info since change of employer on oct 1st

I am on OPT, working as a contractor and I have changed my employer from X to Y on oct 1st,2014.

1)What are the documents I need to get from employer X before moving out of the company.
2) Do I need to get anything related to tax from employer X. As this is the first year that I have started to earn I have no clue about tax filling.

Any employer who has employed you in 2014 will need to give you a Form W-2 (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Form-W-2,-Wage-and-Tax-Statement) or Form 1099 (http://www.irs.gov/uac/Form-1099-MIS...aneous-Income-) for 2014 earnings in January 2015. This will be proof of your earnings for 2014. You will then use the information in these documents to file your taxes before April 15 2015, the tax filing deadline. You should speak with a CPA or accountant when you are ready to file your taxes (the earlier the better but no earlier than January 31 usually). Before you leave Employer X, you should have proof of all payments made to you (pay stubs/ payslips). While Employers should give you this information when they pay you, you need to make sure they do it now if they haven’t.
