Is taking IT training counted towards employment during OPT?

Hello,

I have already used up almost a month of my OPT time in searching for job but haven't found anything yet. I am thinking of joining an IT consultant for training because I do not want to waste more time from my 90 day unemployment period. My question is : Can I join an consultant for IT training and update my DSO with the consultancy name as my current employer? Is that legit ? It is my first OPT. Thank you
