Hello All,
I am a graduate from NIU University. I hold a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Once I graduated I applied for my EAD and my application got accepted. It says on the EAD that its valid for 12 months. What I didn't know and I accept it is my fault that I was to find employment within 90 days of getting the EAD which I failed to. The problem right now is my DSO said I am out of Status and even to process my I-120 for a graduate program I need to leave the country and then come back. My friends Brother owns a company and He said he could help me by saying I was volunteering for 20 hrs a week from the start of my EAD till now and then try to apply for my STEM Extension. I even talked to a lawyer about this and he said it might work but also warned me that USCIS may ask for RFE. Does anyone know any risk associated with me trying to do this, what kind of RFE would USCIS request, and say my STEM gets approved for 17 months what can I do to stay legal more than 17 months.
Please advise, your input will be very valuable to me.
Thank you
