  • On opt - joined a desi consultancy

    Dear Forum Contributors,

    First of all, thank you DesiOPT for this awesome initiative to help candidates like me.

    1) I recently finished my Graduation, and currently on OPT.
    2) Due to 90 days unemployment rule on OPT, i am planning to join a desi consultancy.
    3) The desi consultancy told me, they would give me a offer letter and i can submit the same to my university and ask them to update that on SEVIS. In mean while they will be offering me training and Resume prep.

    My Concerns:

    1) The desi consultancy firm will not be running any payroll until they train me and find me a job, is that ok? should i be on a payroll since they have offered me a offer letter?
    2) I will also be searching for a full time job by my own during my stay with the desi consultancy company while they are offering training and stuff, if in case if i find a full time job, how should i handle the situation? should i normally take the full time offer letter and update that to my SEVIS through the University? And how should i handle the Desi consultancy guy?

    My current situation is like cat on the wall and totally confused, please guide me on this from your previous experiences or knowledge.

          i guess i answer this on personal chat ..
          1 as long as u r consultant support it even in future then no issue ..
          2 on immigration perspective u need to notify to u dso for any changes in u r employment ..
          3 i dont know terms between u and u r consultancy so i can not ans this ..

            tell your consultant to run the payroll to be on safeside., otherwise there might be chances of getting RFE if you apply for extension.

                Payroll is not necessary for opt. Even volunteering jobs count for opt
