Information Needs to be updated from F1 to H1

My H1 is approved and but I am on OPT right now and status will get changed from F1 to H1.
During this transition what are all the things we need to do ?
Do I need to Inform university/DSO regarding my H1 start date?
One more thing I know we need to tell employer to cut off social security and medicare taxes
Any other things I need to take care of with university or employer ?

Is your OPT still valid or are you working pursuant to cap-gap? If you are in F-/ OPT status, you should let your DSO know that your status is changing on October 1. More likely than not, your SEVIS record has already shown the change that will take place.
If you are in cap-gap (your OPT expired by the H-1B filing kept you in status), you should have informed the DSO about your H-1B already. You should make sure your SEVIS record is still valid so that there are no problems down the line.

That's all I believe... You need to inform your DSO so that they close your F-1 Status and that will complete your Sevis.
