  • Date on EAD card?

    Date on EAD card

Hello,I just graduated and my conferral date was september 1. I have a grace period of two months after the conferral date after which I should have applied for OPT. OPT process takes about 2-3 months. The following are my questions:
    1. What happens if I apply for OPT during the last few days of the grace period?
    2. Since OPT takes 2-3 months, how are those days going to get counted?
    3. Is it also true that the date on the EAD card can no later be 30 Oct (last day of grace period) even if I get it in December.

Yes.. Not later than 60 days..They will reject if its later than that.. The OPT period depends.. Say if your start date is oct 29th and if they approve in December then you might get a year till next December or just till next Oct.. It depends on the guy who goes through your docs.. I have seen both cases happen.. All the best..
