1. You have to update your school whenever you change your employer or remain unemployed. So just report them once when you start the job.
2. No need to mention the duration, just the name of employer, their address and yours.
3. You don't have to tell USCIS anything. Just make sure with your school official that your SEVIS is updated whenever you change the company.

You should report any changes within 10 business days. Check below ICE.gov FAQ
7.3.1. What should a student report to ensure that his or her status does
not expire due to excessive unemployment time?
The student should report changes in employment to his or her DSO as
soon as possible. SEVP recommends that the student report any change
within 10 business days of the change to avoid situations where a DHS
official may determine the student is out of status.

Sevis reporting while on opt
My opt starts sep1st and I wonder how to keep maintain good sevis record. I found non paid internship for 1 year and school asks me to provide name and address of the company. The questions are:
1. how often do I need to report my employment? Is it every 10 days or since the internship is one year, am I okay with reporting once?
2. Do I need to tell them it is one year internship? While I am doing this non paid internship, I may switch to another paid position.
3. If I don't have to tell USCIS that length of the internship, Can I cancel my non paid internship anytime I find paid position?
Thank you for your time and help. I appreciate your response and valuable advice.Tags: None
