  • OPT STEM RFE-Wrongly updated start date

    Hello All,

I am in an emergency situation right now as I got an RFE.Any valuable suggestions will be greatly helpful. Thanks in advance.
Hi recently I have received an RFE on OPT extension. The following are the actual start and end dates.

Opt start date July 1st 2013(07/01/2013)
Opt end date June 30th 2014(06/30/2014)

I got OPT RFE (asked to submit all the employment details, start date end and all other required documents in the first opt period (07/01/2013 to 06/30/2014) to prove I was working during this time.)
    Mistakes made.
    • I was working for consultancy I have updated my employment start date as Aug 1st 2013 in 2013, but I had training for 2 months then I actually started working on Oct 1st 2013.
    • I forgot that I have updated my employment details in the university and once again update the information in the university on April 2014. But this time due to some reasons an error occurred and I have updated my start date as Aug 30th 2014. University people and even me did not noticed wrong start date I have updated, and went on and applied for OPT extension, so I got this RFE (I think so).

    • Will this information about the start dates will be updated to USCIS website by the university?
    • What if I again update the correct start date and respond to the OPT RFE? Will that solve the problem? Or I need to contact attorney?
    • How should I respond to this RFE. Please help me?

work with your DSO and respond to the RFE.. as long as you dont have over 90 days of unemployment.. you are fine.. dont panic that you received an RFE.. its only what it states.. Request for Evidence.. they are requesting you to provide information to clear up something which is unclear to them.. do that and you ll be fine..
