Traveling to India with expiring OPT and pending STEM

Hi,

My OPT ends on Jan 25 2015 (F1 valid till May 2015). I will be applying for STEM in first week of October. Now is it safe to travel to India in Nov, Dec months considering my STEM is in process and with only ~1 month of (initial) OPT left?

You can reenter with your I-797 ( or whatever it is called , the proof that you have applied for your extension ) .

Not safe...have seen cases with less than 3 months period of opt left and being scrutinized at immigration

Best Talk to your international adviser and make sure you have all the paper work before you leave...

Not a good idea to travel while anything is pending! It is not recommended!

if it is inevitable then go and come back after opt approval .. with u r new card ..
