  • STEM Extension RFE

    Hi All,

I need help in this below scenario

I applied for H1-B this year but my application wasn't pick. I later applied for STEM Extension( on 5/19/2014) before the last date of my OPT end date( 5/25/2014). In June, my company had some budget issues and I had to resign my firm. I was unemployed for a month( July). I did not inform USCIS about my resignation and so did my company as I was expecting my STEM Extension EAD card. I was informed by my firm that they wont obstruct my STEM Extension application at USCIS. Now in August, I received a RFE asking me to show my employment history from the start of OPT, so I joined a Consultancy(Aug 1st). I asked my Consultancy to update USCIS with my information but we are getting an error. Once my consultancy filled the online application form with the E-verify number, we got a message saying "DHS Verification Process"- "E-verify needs additional time to verify the employment eligibility of this employee".

    1. How much time does DHS take to verify? and what verification do they do?
2 Should I submit requested employment details that I got in RFE before DHS verification happens or should I wait for the DHS verification to end?
    3. Will this be a problem to get my STEM Extension as I was unemployed for a month(July)?
    4. How much time does it usually take to get an EAD once I submit RFE information to USCIS?
