Hello Every one,
I came to US in Fall 2012 for MS. I am doing my Master's thesis (Completed other Course Requirements).
My adviser initially informed me that, I could complete my thesis by July 31 and hence graduate in Summer 2014. Based on his feedback, I applied my OPT on May 20 2014, with September 15 2014 as Start Date.
Just Last week, My adviser has informed me to conduct few more experiments and said I will NOT be graduating in Summer 2014 and need to enroll for Fall 2014 too. Hence, I spoke with ISS and my ISS officer informed me to cancel my OPT Application as it was still in the Initial Review state. So, I wrote a Letter to USCIS on July 28 2014, requesting the Withdrawl of my OPT Application and extended my I-20 till December 2014.
Just today evening, my OPT all the way went from Initial Review to Card Production and says, my card will be mailed to me.
Did I screw up badly? Can anyone please help me on what Can I do now?
Does any one Cancelled their OPT after Applying for it?
Note - Even though USCIS allows to work on OPT, if I just have thesis pending. My college ISS said that my University Policy does NOT allow to work on OPT with just thesis option.
