  • Expediting EAD card process.

    Hello,
I had applied for initial OPT in May and it reached USCIS on 30th May. I have a job offer for August 19th, and I have put my start date as 19th August while applying. It has been only 50 days after the application but I am worried about not getting the card before 19th.
    1. Is there any duration after applying that I become eligible for expediting the process?
    2. What documents are required for expediting?
    3. If I apply for expediting, and if I get rejected, will the process lengthen than it would have otherwise?
    Thank you for your help.

depends on the USCIS center where you sent your application. The California center is relatively quicker

              1. For Nebraska, the earliest date when you can request expedited processing is 30 days before your start date. 2. If you've already submitted your job offer letter with your application, you don't need to send any other documents in order to expedite. 3. I can't say for sure, some people say that it would lengthen, others say it has no effect.

You can try calling the customer care and request for expedited processing under the category "severe financial loss". But, there's no guarantee that they will accept your request. Also, there's no guarantee that the processing will be faster. I think, it depends on how busy their office is. Still, you can do what you can!
