opt volunteer/unpaid position- Professor

Hi everyone,

I'll be working for a professor, basically assisting a phd student with the research, it will be an unpaid position but it is my area of interest/field. I was trying to check if it will pose any problem during the opt extension.I saw some old post(i think last year) where extension was denied to someone who worked for a professor. so, what is the current situation, is it still being denied. Should i go ahead , if yes what are the important things to keep in mind.

im in similar situation, in case i get a letter(volunteer) from professor and then work for him for a period of 6-7 months, and in the meantime look for a job. Suppose i get a full time job in six months. will i then be eligible for stem extension.

Yes if u get the letter that would be awesome bro. Remember one thing u can apply stem extension any time (with payroll or with out payroll) some people will get stem extension with out payroll and some people will not get if they have payroll,
