Cap extension

Hello,


I am on OPT stem extension. I have my opt expiring on 28 July 2014. I have my H1B approved from October 2014. If by any chance if the company is closed or cant give my paychecks on time.
How should I maintain my status after July 28 2014. I have already a cap gap extension from my company. Will be my H1B used in future if I change my status? How much period I can remained unemployed on cap Gap extension.
