  • Traveling to India for marriage and bringing my wife as my dependent

    Hi guys,
I am a Master's student on F-1 visa at a NYC university right now; I have a visa till Aug 2017 though I am planning to graduate by the end of this year. I am also looking to join a consultancy with good hiring rate and get a job on my OPT soon after I finish the training. I am giving myself 6 months to procure the pay-stub. My question is, can I travel to India for my wedding, by say, May 2015, provided my docus are in order? Also, I wanna bring my wife as my dependent here to USA- she will have no visa of her own except as my dependent. Kindly state the risks and advise me. Thank you.

You can always travel during your OPT period. (Assuming that your OPT is in pending....)
Always carry employment letter during your return.

        Good Luck.

You just need to ask your international office to issue an I 20 and show the amount in your bank accounts. She should know the name of your school and what are u doing to answer visa officer

There is no such risk in dependent but your wife should maintain the fact that she is in us to be a homemaker and not so interested in pursuing any progressional course
