  • Unpaid Internship - possible RFE?

I have completed two semesters at my University. I got CPT approved from my university on June 2, 2014 and is valid till Aug 22,2014. However my work at Consultancy's client place does not begin until July 20,2014 .Hence my payroll will also be run by consultancy starting from July 20.This will look more like an unpaid internship, but in actual case I am not working at all.
Will this cause any problem with OPT or OPT extension or H1B or during any other situations when dealing with USCIS? Can Consultancy run a blank payroll?

    Kindly reply.

There will not be any issues at time of OPT or to any thing related with USICS approvals.

I am in the exact situation. However the difference is I will not be working and hence no payroll will be run for me for this entire 3 months of CPT. I informed my university and got a CPT approved telling that I will be working with a Consultant for 3 months. However my consultant couldn't find a client for me to work with. So although I got my CPT approved I won't work and hence no payroll will be run for these three months of CPT.
I have seen people having issues during OPT. Since it is CPT, this won't be any problem anytime in the future?

Try to avoid it , cause USCIS has been denying applications on basis of unpaid work
