Hi. I am doing my OPT in Illinois and working full time in healthcare community center. My spouse`s driver license is expiring soon. We applied for his driver`s license when I was a student showing the I-20 form. But, now our I-20 is only within 3 months valid and we don't know how to apply for a driver license. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

You have an OPT and a supporting I20 with it that states your spouse being your legal dependent. With these documents i do not aee any issues as to why her DL cannot be renewed. It should be renewed until your OPT is valid. If your OPT expires in next 2 months then probably you may have issues renewing it. Check with ur States DMV might also have a secondary check for legal presence. It takes a week to confirm the eligibility thru the secondary check.Comment
