H4 to F1 conversion and OPT eligibility

Hi All,

I am planning to start my masters program on H4 visa in Fall (enrolling as a full time student).The program can be completed in 3 quarters. I intend to convert to F1 in 2nd quarter. My question is:

1) Would I be eligible for post completion OPT in Summer? I would have been enrolled as a full time student for 3 terms but only 2 terms or 6 months on F1 visa status? Would any college specific rules apply?

DSO will have to answer your question. Some schools have more relaxed requirements for eligibility. I was on F-1 for two semesters (one year). check with your DSO
