  • Expediate OPT processing after application for OPT

USCIS shows that they received my OPT on 9th May 2014. I have asked for 15th July as my OPT start date. Now i have a job where the company wanted
me to join as soon as possible. But due to my late start date the company is ready to wait till 15th July but not after. I am concerned whether i will get my OPT before 15th July or should i try to expediate the process.
    1. How much time does the expediate process usually take?
    2. Is it advisable to go ahead and expediate my OPT or does it usually come before their stipulated period of 3 months?
    3. Do they require more processing and paper work for expediating OPT?

Usually it's always a good idea to wait rather than expediting the process. I had the same issue during my OPT application. Sometimes USCIS makes a very quick update from application received/under review to OPT card shipped. As you still have time till July 15th in my opinion it's good to wait for few more days for the update. It worked in my case. Good luck.

I had the same issue. Keep calling USCIS national center. After 2-3 calls in a week tell them its an emergency and request them to talk to the immigration officer. You'll have a waiting time of 2 hours and they'll call u back. Trust me, my status changes to card production on the very next day. All the best!

After how many days you received the card after it went into production?
