Pending OPT application since April 5

Hello,

My documents reached USCIS on April 5. Since then my application is shown to be in initial review. I have given my OPT start date to be June 15 and my employer has given me join date of June 20. I am really worried about my OPT card, as online i checked few numbers above and below me and their OPT card was issued like 2 weeks back.

I am really worried why mine still shows to be in initial review. A friend of mine applied 2 days before me and it has been 3 weeks since he got his OPT card.

USCIS takes upto 3 months to process an application so relax

I'm in the exact same situation. I actually know someone who applied on May 10 and got their card this week, while I've been waiting for two months on expedite processing. I don't know if this helps, but you're not alone.

Wait for 90 days after applying for OPT..Then call USCIS to get a status update and expedite the process if possible.

i had the same situation last year. Usually USCIS sends EAD before the start date of OPT. I received it one day before the start date. Although I would suggest you to call USCIS and request expedition.

I had the same situation frd of mine got it in 3 weeks and I had it on 87th day, they just allot the cases to specific person some do it early and some doesn't that's what I was said by a uscis guy so don't worry

Happened with me. I called them and asked them to expedite it under extreme emergent situation as I had offer letter in hand. My status changed the next day. I asked my friend who goes to a different school and applied to a different service center to do the same and her status changed the next day as well. Good luck!

If, you have passed the 90 day processing time/start date on OPT card, then you can begin employment with the receipt number.

You cannot compare as to why one got his card and you did not. Secondly USCIS clearly states normal processing time is 90 days.
