  • Stem extension granted they made an error but how to reenter US??

    Hi All,

My stem extension was denied by Nebraska Service Center. as soon as I got denial letter, I went back to Nepal complying the rules of USCIS. Now they have reconsidered my stem extension and given me my EAD card on 22 May, 2014 but the start date in that card is 15 sept, 2013. I don't have a job now in US. is it possible to reenter without a job? Won't there be problems at port of Entry.? Isn't USCIS responsible for me getting out of job and all the hassle I have to go through? searching a job is like starting from scratch again. I was expecting USCIS that they would give some time for us to look for job again but they seem to be getting away just by providing us our EAD card. Does anyone know when should I plan to reenter and is it possible to do it without job in US?

I am in the same situation. I contacted my DSO but she said my sevis was still in completed status, though it says extension approved on my sevis profile. I guess the approval is of no use to us now.
In your case i dont think re-entry on ur old sevis wud be possible as i am assuming that you have been out of the country for more than 5months at a stretch. You can still give it a try callin uscis.

I highly doubt they will do anything. STEM extension is a privilege not a right. I would suggest to call your previous employer and explain them your situation. They might rehire you
