Can you return from home country safely after 8 months on STEM OPT?

I have been out of Usa for 8 months on stem opt. I have stem i20 and valid Ead and offer letter from the company. Would there be any issue while returning to usa? Also when I made my friend talk to my university on my behalf they told that if he gets a letter from the company saying that he went to India due to company's work, there should not be any problem. But its difficult to get such letter

You can't get back to USA on that opt i20 since you break 6 months unemployment rule on opt. You can try get another i20 for applying double degree then you can come back and study. However ur opt period is void.

Update your employer details with school and if they can provide u i20 then you have chances . Because ur i20 should have signed less than 6months on the last page.
