  • Graduation Dilemma

    Hi Everyone,

I'm a Master's student graduating this semester. I applied for my OPT.

My question is in the worst scenario if I get an F in any subject,OPT gets rejected right?

If if rejects can I continue pursuing masters and re apply for OPT again?

What should be my further step?

Help is appreciated. Thanks in advance............

No F does not matter. I got a F and got my EAD card.

If you Fail in any of the subject then you have to retake that class.. your DSO have to withdraw your OPT application if it is not been accepted yet. If you think you might fail in one subject I would suggest you go and talk to your DSO.

If u have a GPA of 3.0 thats good enough to graduate and get OPT

I have switched my majors. From one major I have an F, and I didn't repeat that class. But from the other major that I graduated from I have completed all the courses, and had to retake the courses with F . I had overall 3.0 GPA. Still got my opt card.

There is no provision on grade in OPT.. I have seen people with 2.0 get an opt permit... And as long as one graduated, grade shouldnt count against you..

If we get an F, the credits doesn't count right? How can we graduate ?.

How many days it takes to accept an application

you just have to make it to 3.0 or more by the time you complete course..(by taking extra courses or credits) ..application generally takes 3 to 4 weeks to respond after it is received
