  • Traveling before OPT expires

    Hello everyone,

I plan to travel in September 1, 2014 for my best friends wedding I am currently working but I won't be sponsored for H1B from my employer. My OPT (EAD Card) expires on October 14, 2014. I plan to stay for one week in my country. My visa is valid and I will have a letter stating that I am employed. Has anyone ever traveled a month before their EAD card expires? Is it safe to travel under these conditions? I would appreciate your help.

Yep, you are fine. Take all required documents such as recent I-20 with DSo signature, EAD card, employer letter, pay stubs (optional) etc.
          Enjoy the wedding
