She can travel to India but has to get back before her graduation. After grad, she has to wait for the OPT card to arrive before travelling. Also please note, an OPT is not an entry card, for re entry you will need a valid document from your employer confirming your employment along with an updated i-20

You can travel provided the OPT card does not show up before you return. Keep your documents and if possible a letter from somebody (adviser) saying that you are working for him, just in case. No doubt, there is lots of risk involved in this option

What if the visa is expiring within a month? Is it still safe to go and come back before the visa expires?

Hiii, I am Karthik..I am currently in OPT extension (I have this Extension card which expires in December 2013). My question is i was staying out of USA, in my home country from 2 and half months (from Dec 1st and returning to USA on February 20th)...would that cause any problem for my return...I have got updated I-20 with travel signature, My visa is valid till 2014 and i have got the employer letter as well...so what else do i need...I hope i wouldnt have any problems...Also, is there any maximum duration we can stay out of USA during OPT...Awaiting for your response
