• Filing taxes through TurboTax

I am an international student who admitted in spring 2013. I have filed my taxes using turbotax upon my friends suggestion. I was told that there would be some problems if I file through them during my H1 or whatever. I would be pleased if you can throw some light on this issue.

Thanks for all the help you have been doing to the students out here

I just filed with them. And if they issued my refund without a problem. I don't see h1b being an issue.

If u r an international student under F1 who is a non resident alien then u have to file 1040 NR EZ along with 8843 for tax purposes with IRS.Unfortunately turbotax is dumb and not good enough to differentiate single non residents(we international students)from single residents(American citizens). I faced the same kindah prblm last week.If u had filed anything other than the above forms then yes u may have problem. Google it for steps to sort tat out if necessary.

to support my comment .. it would not hurt u r h1 or u r future immigration .. IRS could chase you if you misuse tax credits ..

Yes as someone mentioned above, as a non-resident aliens we should file 1040NR during tax filing. Other than turbotax, you can use www.taxact.com. I have seen people using this website with no issues. And I'm planning to use so.
